Tips for Booking your Practical Driving Test in South East Queensland
Ditch the L's and get your P's
NOTE: The current wait time with some of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) test centres, for Practical Driving Tests (test), is approximately 8 weeks.

Here are a few tips so you can be prepared early and book your test at the best time for you.
- Complete your Hazard Perception Test ASAP
- Complete your logbook hours ASAP
- If you are under 25, you need to record at least 100 hours of supervised driving in your logbook.
- Every hour of your daytime driving with one of our Coastwide Driving Instructors counts for 3 hours in your logbook—up to a maximum of 10 actual hours or 30 logbook hours.
- Make sure you submit your logbook at least 12 business days before your driving test. You can't take your test until TMR have approved your logbook.
- You submit your logbook through the TMR app.

- Book your Driving Test well in advance
- Talk to your Driving Instructor about your logbook hours and when you are looking to do your test. (You must be at least 17 years of age at the time of your test)
- Have a plan to complete your hours and submit your logbook at least 3 weeks prior to your test date.
- If your Instructor feels you will be ready for your test soon, call our Customer Service Team on 3188 1456 to book your test with your Coastwide Driving Instructor in their car. Our Test Day Package information is available at our discount packages page.
- We recommend considering booking your test when you are nearing 80-85 hours and have a plan to ensure you complete the 100 hours at least 3 weeks prior to your test.
- When you call our Customer Service Team to book your test, please ensure you have your Learner Licence number with you.
- The Customer Service Team will book your test with TMR while on the phone booking your Test Day Package with your Coastwide Instructor.
We look forward to continuing to support you on your journey.
