Trusted by Parents, Loved by Students.
Learn how the clutch, gears and car speed work together. You can start without previous driving experience and develop steering, observation and safe decisions alongside the controls.
Revisit manual skills after a break or work on a task that still feels difficult. Explain your recent driving experience so the practice addresses what you need.
Prepare with practice in observation, hazard awareness, parking and manoeuvres. Mock driving tests add test-style instructions and feedback to help identify skills that need further work.

Clear instruction and feedback
Clutch control and gear changes can feel like separate jobs at first. Your instructor can help you understand each action, practise the coordination and connect it with the car’s speed. You also work on looking and planning so the controls do not take all of your attention.
An experienced learner may need less help operating the car but still benefit from feedback on timing, observation or consistency. Practice reflects the skills you have now, with opportunities to ask questions and repeat a task that needs more attention.
Michelle is a Queensland-accredited driver trainer, and Coastwide lesson cars have dual controls. We are part of a group that has helped students pass their test since 1959.

For learners under 25, the first 10 actual hours with an accredited trainer can count as 30 logbook hours. Later hours count in real time; a night lesson counts as triple time or night hours, not both. See the Queensland learner logbook rules.
Existing customers need at least one Coastwide lesson to book test-day support; some instructors accept new test customers. Coordinate your instructor, centre and time with Coastwide before booking the government test.
