Queensland driving test preparation
Prepare deliberately: practise assessed manoeuvres, master hazard perception, and know the rules you’ll be tested on.
Core skills to practise
- Vehicle control: Smooth acceleration/braking, clutch control, and hill starts.
- Observation: Mirrors, head checks, scanning, and blind spot awareness.
- Positioning: Lane discipline, safe following distances, and gap selection.
- Manoeuvres: Three‑point turn, reverse park, angle park, and U‑turns.
Hazard perception
- Anticipate: Read traffic patterns and identify developing hazards early.
- Adjust: Adapt speed and positioning to conditions (rain, glare, night).
- Plan: Keep escape space; don’t get boxed in by larger vehicles.
Test day tips
- Documents: Bring licence, booking confirmation, and a valid logbook if applicable.
- Vehicle: Roadworthy, clean windows, and properly fitted L plates.
- Route readiness: Practise around test centres at different times of day.
Note: Check TMR for current test criteria and any updates to Q‑SAFE procedures.
