Supporting learners and volunteer mentors
Rightway Driving School partnered with PCYC Crestmead's Braking the Cycle programme in July 2014. The original account described support through a maintained car, a monthly contribution towards fuel and time from qualified driving instructors.
Instructors helped assess new learners and train volunteer mentors, while volunteers supported young people working towards their supervised driving hours.
How that support helped the programme
The December 2015 newsletter explained that the vehicle contribution reduced the programme's leasing and maintenance costs. Crestmead could operate two cars, offer automatic and manual sessions and direct more resources towards helping learners become ready for work.
The newsletter also valued the guidance instructors gave to new mentors. It credited Howard and the Rightway team with helping mentors build the knowledge they would pass on to young drivers.
A shared contribution
The original newsletter thanked the sponsor for the vehicle, fuel support and instructors' time. It described a developing relationship that helped the programme support more learners while giving mentors access to professional guidance.
